Anita Dongre’s Serene Summer Reverie Collection

It is so gorgeous and beautiful to kiss the first rays of summer and become the blossoming nature. Admire the picturesque fresh summer, as the birds sing and heavens smile.

The international eponymous fashion designer, Anita Dongre, was inspired by the first rays of summer for her ready-to-wear summer/resort collection. “A Summer Reverie” was created using sustainable blends of TENCEL™ fibers, with Shahid and Mira Kapoor as showstoppers.

“We are happy to have partnered with Tencel to create designs in fabrics that are produced with minimal impact on the environment. Sustainability is the need of the hour and Tencel believes in that as much as we do. These garments would be perfect accompaniments to a luxury resort holiday or destination summer weddings. At the House of Anita Dongre, such collaborations are very important for us today because we are on a sustainable mission. So, it’s important to partner with companies and manufacturers who are producing fiber sustainably. I think it is accessible. I really want to make sustainable mainstream. With today’s collection, I am hoping to do that,”  – Anita Dongre, in collaboration with Tencel India.

The show was held at the luxurious Taj Landsend rich garden, a perfect set for the collection. The models did a serpentine walk trail, the “Summer Reverie” collection. It connoted subtle elegance, light fluid fabrics in an abundance of pretty floral prints. There were saris and skirts, crop sets to maxi dresses and jumpsuits. They were in various hues, fabulous for your summer holidays or a summer wedding in Europe.

The ethnic collection consisted of silk, shaping into delicate silhouettes. There were embroidered floral motifs, in various fresh floral hues of seafood in yellow, onion pink, surf blue, blush and apricot They were complemented by champagne pink, pista green, marigold yellow, misty blue, and cheerful lavender prints. They all exuded the majestic quality of the collection – an exhilarating floral summer. The well structured silhouettes with the fringed-sarees, layered dupattas, front open shrugs and skirts transforming into tulles and tiers, spoke about the bold and empowered woman.

“Over the past few years, we have witnessed a transformation in sustainability in terms of fashion where it has taken a center-stage for mainstream discussion. Consumers are now understanding what goes into the making of their clothes and even looking at alternative fashion options. Both Anita Dongre and Lenzing share a common vision of sustainability,” commented Mr. Avinash Mane, Commercial Head, South Asia, Lenzing AG.

Avinash added, “While we have the right fibre, she has the right ingredient, design (sensibility). We want to create a collection that will be readily and immediately available. We at Tencel have always believed in driving innovation to create sustainable products and will continue to partner with designers in this mission. We hope to continue our consistent focus on reinforcing the importance of ethical clothing and identifying ways to create interest amongst Indian consumers to consider sustainable collections.”

Anita Dongre presented the menswear collection with kurtas and bundles, using TENCEL™ fabrics to serious short jackets and blazers layered with sherwanis, capturing the gentle side of men and exuding strength too. They include multihued prints & male hues, keeping the summer mood vibrant.

Anitra added, “But in fashion it is about wearing a garment that is produced sustainably or is empowering a woman towards her sustainable development. At the House of Anita Dongre, such collaborations are very important for us today because we are on a sustainable mission. So, it’s important to partner with companies and manufacturers who are producing fibre sustainably.”
