Hollywood Fashion Stylist to the Stars George Blodwell Celebrates His Birthday

Friends, celebrities, and colleagues were out in force on a recent July night for Hollywood Celebrity Stylist and GenLux Editor-At-Large GEORGE BLODWELL’S birthday at Eva Longoria’s landmark on the LA restaurant scene, Beso.

Taking over the exclusive Kiss Lounge upstairs at the hotspot, the party, hosted for George by producer Christine Peters and GenLux magazine, looked out over the restaurant below, and attracted a mix of hot young Hollywood and established names, reflecting both the style and the character of the birthday “boy” himself.
Stylish attendees included actors Tia Carrere, Craig Young, icon Jacqueline Bissett, and Lauren Cohan, who will soon be seen in the CW’s Valentine and the film Stefano Formaggio. Movie director Tim Bui also showed; his drama Powder Blue with Forest Whitaker and Jessica Biel opens this winter. Powerhouse model Janice Dickinson, UK pop star Darius Danesh, socialite Lisa Gastinaeau, and casting directors Pamela Shae and Zora DeHorter were also in attendance.

Indeed, style was the order of the evening, and guests were impeccably turned out (as expected, with fashion as the theme of the party); most guys sported a suit jacket and tie combo, proving the ratpack is back, and ladies came attired in variations on the little black dress, providing a sultry tableau against the deep, rich, and sensual red velvet tones of the lounge.  A standout was couture florist Joey House, who looked as stunning in her LBD as the floristry for which her business House Of Petals is known.

Man of the hour George, who is often known for his unique, sometimes elegant, sometimes crazy style, fooled us all by opting for the classic black tie get-up finished with a hand-tied bowtie, and he looked every bit the dapper gent, his trademark long locks resting on his latest designer suit shoulders.

The drinks were plentiful (and complimentary, of course!) with the bar selection designed by mixologist Jesse Burt of Ocean Bar Service and poured generously by Beso’s capable bartenders.  The cocktails du jour were made of variations from brews of the party sponsors – Three Olives Flavoured Vodka, Nuvo Liqueur, Honest Tea, Mojito Island, and Bling H2O.  Food, however, was disappointing, considering the usual tasty Beso menu, but this was too much a night about catching up with old friends, and seeing and being seen, to be distracted by what was on the plates.

As a regular lover of gift bags for both himself and his celebrity clients, George, of course, could be counted on to offer an excellent gift bag at the end of his own party, and he did just that. Guests left with goodies courtesy of parfumeur Kristin Michele, make up from Keisha Whitaker’s Kissable Couture, vouchers for Pampered Passions Lingerie, a DVD of George’s teacher and guru Prem Rawat Maharaji, and, of course, a copy of the luxury fashion glossy now taking LA by storm, GenLux.

Overall, the party was a great success, and George seemed to have a good time, celebrating in style, catching up with old friends and even receiving Happy Birthday wishes from stunning owner Eva Longoria-Parker.  I’m sure he won’t need much convincing to throw another bash next year!

Spotlight On “The Stylist”

George Blodwell is one of Hollywood’s most-loved stylists, thanks to his impeccable eye for style and a big heart.  Born and raised in Manchester, England, he lived his early years in Scotland before arriving in Los Angeles in the late 1970’s.  Cutting his teeth in the West Coast’s most exclusive boutique Maxfields, George’s unique personality and approach led him through a stint as Editor At Large for Italian Harpers Bizarre, after which he went on to style almost every major Hollywood star – including screen sirens Charlize Theron, Halle Berry, Catherine Zeta Jones and Drew Barrymore; entertainment legends Elton John, Faye Dunaway and Diana Ross;  and leading men Pierce Brosnan, Forest Whitaker and Ben Kingsley.  More recently, George assumed the post of Editor At Large for the new luxury fashion glossy Genlux Magazine, and has been busy styling Helen Mirren for last year’s Oscars, Bill Maher for his weekly TV appearances, and Heroes star Hayden Panetierre for her public appearances.
