ALEC MONOPOLIZES DUBAI WITH EDEN GALLERY
What a super cool artist dude, I must say, ALEC MONOPOLY is, as he made a hot entrance, exited the mall car, wrapped in his iconic logo and dollar bill motif, he headed to the DJ console and djeyed, the guests went berserk. Wow, and he performed superbly, crowd cheered, turning EDEN GALLERY into a night club and shoppers outside passed by, stood outside the gallery and danced to his music, with over 1,000 people attended the event. As part of the Grand Opening Eden Week event, guests of the gallery were also invited to visit Alec Monopoly’s live event. Grandeur and Magnifique.
Let’s understand, is ALEC’s art, graffiti art, street art or pop art. I reiterate confidently, it is Graffiti Pop Art and mind blown, rich in comic characters, vibrant colors and conspicuous consumption, vivacious. As the DEVIL says, GREED is GOOD.
Alec was casually dressed as a typical New York based artist, in a black t-shirt, black designer jeans, his lucky hat with his signature, and was donned with the Jacob & Co. X Alec Monopoly Collaboration Watch, The Astronomia Alec Monopoly watch, valued at a heart attack value of $ 600,000, limited edition watch, restricted to only 9 pieces.
I remember my childhood memories, reading Richie Rich comics, Uncle Pennybags and Uncle Scrooge characters, I had like a trunk full of them, today, ALEC has got Richie’s characters alive since the past few years, and ofcourse the Monopoly game, I was good at it, devils luck. Alec has geniously integrated the Richie Rich characters with the Monopoly board game, as a strong narration of today’s greedy world, the obnoxious capitalists living the super opulent lifestyle.
As Alec finished djing, he networked and mingled with his collectors, friends and guests, autographed his works and on the collectors watches and handbags, bearing ALEC’s works, taking pictures with them and making a number of heartfelt live dedications. ALEC performed a one-of-a-kind live mural painting across from Red Valentino, measured an impressive 520×383 cm | 204×150 in, distinctively of his signature artistic style, very exuberant.
In his brand new collection, ALEC included his vibrant characters: Uncle Pennybags, Scrooge, and Richie Rich, who are featured against a backdrop of the city of Dubai’s most iconic landmarks. Alec’s entire iconic Hermès painting collection was sold out.
ALEC MONOPLY’s eclectic graffiti pop art has earned him to have his art works, to be a must have for collectors, incorporating pop culture, blending graffiti and street art, with comic characters illustrations such as RICHIE RICH, the board game – MONOPOLY & iconography into his designs. Monopoly hand paints every canvas, making the experience of owning one even more special, using varied materials (including stencils, spray paint, epoxies, varnishes, and newspapers), his own political and world trends narration.
