The Charismatic Craftsmanship Of Rahul Mishra By GB Bajaj Of GBLuxe

The eponymous Rahul Mishra created his new collection in the most ingenious way, inspired by a resort in the Maldives and the animated movie Madagascar. The breathtaking Couture Spring collection was exhibited at the Maison de la Chimie during the Paris Haute Couture Week 2020.

Rahul said, “A foray into couture is a conscious decision led by an intention of catering to a demand for our fashion instead of having to create the demand. Articulated with the love for all people involved and value for the environment at large, a great strength is found in the process.”

At his recent trip to SonevaFushi, a beautiful resort in Maldives, adorned with medieval Indian paintings and paintings like Henry Rousseau, Rahul was magically scintillated, inspired to create this collection, especially by the hues of the underwater landscape blues, the captivating corals, luscious flora and fauna, as the fish left their concentric abstracts, just fascinated by the underwater world.

This idea transpired in the meticulous hand embroidered, 3D intricate designs and craftsmanship, which was the result of about 5000 hours of labor.

The models sashayed in off-whites to pastels, the hems of the gowns, resembling the flora and fauna under water.  With sophisticated craftsmanship, the dresses were delicate and light with fabrics made of tulle and organza. The varying shades of the sky against the wildlife of the Himalayan foothills on the dresses were truly memorable.

The prestigious governing body, Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture, a crucial part of the French fashion industry invited Rahul Mishra as a “guest member” to present at Paris Haute Couture Week 2020. Rahul joined Zuhair Murad, Balmain, Valentino and Iris van Herpen.

The collection is also dedicated to his four year old daughter – Aarna. Rahul. Spending his time with her, watching animated movies, especially – Madagascar, which they saw it more than 30 times inspired this collection. It’s how animated films bring out the characters and sensibilities that influenced this couture collection. To escape the Delhi pollution, Rahul and Aarna, traveled to the foothills of the pristine Himalayas, encompassed in the wilderness, these wonderful emotional experiences are reflected in the collection.

Rahul, a staunch believer in research and development, experimentation and innovation, believes in adopting new techniques, shapes and forms for this season. He was completely engrossed emotionally. His ideal mission is always improving and inventing his own craftsmanship along his journey, creating very high quality garments and achieving opulence. Weave both for craft and for art.
